Toyota Prius Is Number 1 in Japan

IchiBan! That means Number 1 in Japanese - which is what the Toyota Prius hybrid is to Japan, the Number 1 selling car in that country. It's the 14th consecutive month in a row that Prius was the best setting car in Japan.

Tuesday, Japan Automobile Dealers Association said Toyota sold 31,876 of the gas-electric hybrids last month, one of its best months since the vehicle began selling in 1997.

The demand for the Prius is so high in Japan that it has a three-month waiting list. Association spokesman Yukio Kogoshi said that, the demand for the Prius remains very strong as consumers continue to choose hybrid vehicles.

Toyota has had some issues lately - the company has to face in excess of 200 lawsuits in the U. S. related to accidents that involved its defective automobiles, the lower resale value of Toyota vehicles, and a drop in its stock value. Toyota, with regard to the Prius, says it's the best-selling hybrid in the world, with 1.79 million sold.

It's a testament to how solid Toyota cars, especially the hybrid Prius, are - and what they mean to the customers.

So as Prius continues to stick with its ICHIBAN in Japan, we look to the United States, where you can test drive the all new hybrid Prius, along with the upcoming Prius plug in at Byers Toyota - 1599 Columbus Pike - Delaware, OH 43015
